Pinto Rosso Piceno D.O.C.

(1 customer review)

This is a classic wine from Le Marche; a blend of 70% Montepulciano and 30% Sangiovese that’s aged in oak for 6 months offers intense blackberry aromas. The tannins are dry and spicy which provide great aging potential but once opened or decanted for an hour or two, they soften to bring out the Black cherry and vanilla flavours.

  1. Cyrille Rouzier

Great and lovely medium bodied red, very well balanced and versatile. 2016 vintage, decanted it as it was a bit acidic when I first opened the bottle. Decanting brought the wine back! Fruity nose with note of red berries. Delicate palate with red fruits and a slightly woody finished. Food match was home made sourdough pizza.

Hi Cyrille, as you know, Pinto is one of Dave’s favourites. We agree with you that when you first open the bottle, it does need time to open up but we think its worth the wait. Such wonderful complexity for such a young wine but still with good aging potential that will just get better over the next 3 to 5 years.
