The “Lacryma Christi Del Vesuvio” is a famous Neapolitan wine, produced in the past by monks in their monasteries near the slopes of Mount Vesuvius.
A lot of myths and legends have grown up over the course of the centuries around this wine.
It was said that when Lucifer was ejected from Heaven, he stole a piece of heaven with him. In his haste to avoid capture, he accidentally dropped the piece of heaven onto the Bay of Naples and avoided capture. Seeing what Lucifer had done, Christ shed some tears which fell onto the Bay of Naples. From Christ’s tears, grape vines started to grow.
