This is an elegant, fine brandy made from "Pellecchiella" apricots that are only grown on the highest parts of Mount Somma, close to Vesuvius. The volcanic soil ensures a great aromatic yield of the fruit, which is harvested almost overripe during the first ten days of July before fermentation and subsequent distillation in a bain-marie.
The taste has a hint of sweet apricots with a smooth warming aftertaste. It’s like a slightly sweet grappa and is perfect as a digestivo after a big meal. However, it is traditionally served in tulip-shaped glasses at a temperature between 10 and 13°C in combination with typical Neapolitan pastries and during carnival with migliaccio napoletano or fried chiacchiere.
