Rosso Vesuvio Lacryma Christi DOC

The Russo Family produce this wonderful, classic Lacryma Christi red from their south-west facing vines on the lower slopes of Mount Vesuvius. After fermentation at a controlled temperature in steel tanks, it is aged in large oak barrels for 6 months and a further 6 months in the bottle before release. When drunk young it’s a vibrant red with red cherry notes and a hint of minerality that’s perfect with tomato-based pasta or Neapolitan pizza.

If you can resist drinking now, hiding away a few bottles in the wine fridge for a few years is worth the wait for it to develop greater complexity.
